SuperMaths "Working With Numbers" CD ROM Programs

The SuperMaths "Working With Numbers" CD ROM programs each contain 144 activities and 200 worksheets. The content is based on the numeration strand of the Australian National Mathematics Guidelines. Areas covered in the programs include: using numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, money fractions, decimals and percentages.
Numeracy is a word that is only relatively new in the English language. Most educators agree that the concept of numeracy goes beyond the degree of competence in computational mathematical skills. It encompasses the concepts of number and space in the fields of measurement, approximation, estimation, tables, graphs and statistics.
What is clear is that good numeracy skills are becoming more and more important in our modern lives. Mathematics influences all aspects of our lives: in our daily living, at work and in our leisure and sporting pursuits. Good numeracy skills are also required across all curriculum areas, especially, in technology and science subject areas.
The SuperMaths Working With Numbers programs as the names suggest are concerned primarily with the concepts and computational skills associated with numbers. The three SuperMaths Working With Numbers programs are designed for lower primary through to lower secondary aged students. Activities have been designed in a fun and interactive way to ensure student success and at the same time teaching or consolidating mathematical concepts. Within each activity there is sound and graphical reinforcement as well as a reward game to motivate each student.
The SuperMaths Working With Numbers programs are extremely comprehensive and cover all areas of number as outlined in the Australian National Mathematics Guidelines. Each program incorporates extensive worksheets which are readily accessible from within the program to extend and consolidate mathematical concepts.

Activities

The SuperMaths Working With Numbers programs have been designed for lower primary through to lower secondary aged students.
Each program has eight sections: e.g. SuperMaths Working With Numbers 1. CD ROM has these eight sections: Using Numbers 1, Using Numbers 2, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Money and Revision

Reward Game

The SuperMaths Working With Numbers programs have a reward game as an incentive for students to progress through the activities.

Teacher Tools and Print Function

The SuperMaths Working With Numbers programs have a Teacher Tools section which is accessed from a button on the Main Menu screen. The Teacher Tools section of the program allows the teacher to create and delete classes and to create and delete students. There is also the capability for the teacher/network manager to specify where users' data is to be stored.
The Prints Results button is positioned on the Main Menu screen. The printed results contain the student's name, the date and a record of SuperMaths Working With Numbers activities that have been completed.

Worksheets

Each SuperMaths Working With Numbers program has a set of worksheets to complement the activities on the CD ROM. SuperMaths Working With Numbers 1. has 200 worksheets, SuperMaths Working With Numbers 2. has 225 worksheets and SuperMaths Working With Numbers 3. has 220 worksheets. The layout of each worksheet is designed for easy student use. Answers to all worksheets are included.
The worksheets are accessed from a button on the Main Menu screen in each of the SuperMaths Working With Numbers CD ROMs. The worksheets are in pdf format for easy navigation and printing. The purchaser of each CD ROM is granted the right to reproduce each worksheet in quantities suitable for classroom use.
