At The River' from the Clicker Book series is a fun story about 'who's eating who' at the river. After reading the story, children can
learn more about the animals in a factual book featuring photographs of each river animal. The activities provide many opportunities for
children to engage with the vocabulary and information. They include matching, spelling, sentence building, comprehension, sequencing events,
text innovation, report writing and poetry writing.
In addition to the full version of the story on the CD-ROM, there is also an easier ‘Read it yourself’ version that is told in fewer pages.
This picks out the main points of the story so that young readers can read independently. Activities at word and sentence levels include
spelling, sentence building and punctuation. At text level there is a range of comprehension activities as well as the facility for children
to create their own book.
