Reading Freedom

Reading Freedom is a comprehensive, fully integrated phonics program that is carefully structured to teach students the skills they need to become effective readers. It is especially useful for students with reading difficulties, and is intended for use in the middle primary years, secondarsy schools, with adult learners and for students learning English as a second language.

The strength of Reading Freedom is in its modern phonics-based approach and its fundamental principles of structured instruction, and positive reinforcement through the demonstrated mastery of basic reading skills.

The interactive exercises, voiceover support, motivational activities and reinforcement through positive feedback combine to help students gradually develop their skills so they can read these words with accuracy and fluency. The programs are fully interactive, and students are able to listen to individual words and sounds that are new to them while enjoying the colourful graphics.

Parents and teachers are able to view and print student results, as well as problem words record ed by the programs for each student. Pass rates can also be changed to meet teaching needs.

Printable certificates are awarded for successful completion of each unit of work.

When students have completed the Reading Freedom series they will have mastered the skills needed for independent reading.

Individual Product Information:

Reading Freedom 1

Reading Freedom 1

In Reading Freedom 1 students start by learning the sounds the letters make and go on to blend these sounds together to make words. Students also learn to spell these words, and to read sentences made from the words. They then go onto adding word endings and then to reading comprehension passages based around the sounds and words learned in each unit of work.

Reading Freedom 2

The Reading Freedom 5 - Achievement Tests is a valuable diagnostic tool for parents and teachers. The carefully structured tests have been specifically designed to monitor student progress through the Reading Freedom series of programs, by providing a familiar and non-threatening form of assessment.
They are an effective means of monitoring efficiency of instruction, demonstrating mastery of the reading skills learnt and indicating areas that need further reinforcement, while providing an encouraging record of progress for students.
The program is self-marking, and compiles a comprehensive, printable record of the results attained for each test. Student achievement is also recognised with the awarding of printable certificates that can be viewed on screen at any time.
