Storyphones is a complete digital audio system using MP3 technology. It is designed by an Early Years teacher for young children to help them develop their language, communication, listening and literacy skills.

These skills are the foundations of learning and it is essential that they are acquired by children in the early stages of their education. Storyphones ensure that ICT is used throughout the school or nursery environment and is embedded across the curriculum.

The Storyphones Headsets do not need to be connected to a computer or any other equipment while in use, and children are free to sit wherever they wish to listen. This overcomes major limitations of existing audio systems which tie the listener to a single CD or tape player in a particular location. With Storyphones, each child can listen to different content appropriate to their needs. All of the players have rechargeable batteries so there are no more messy wires to tangle up or trip over. This gives Storyphones fantastic possibilities for outdoor learning.

There are four main aspects to the Storyphones system:

The Storyphones Headset
The Storyphones MP3 Headsets are perfect for children to use as headphones. They have been specifically designed to fit children and to be simple and fun to use. There is a separate MP3 player built into each Headset allowing you to have either different content on each Headset, or the same content on all. This provides great usability for group and individual learning, and adapting learning activities for children of different abilities.

The Storyphones Remote Console
The Storyphones Remote Console has 3 main functions; loud playing, recording and control of the Headsets.

• Easy to use loud-speaking MP3 player
• Built-in microphone for recording to track or assess your children’s spoken language
• Switch controlled for inclusive access
• Links with Headsets to become the remote control for group listening

Storyphones Base Unit
The Base Unit is basically a ‘multi-way USB hub’. Its main functions are storage and charging of the Headsets and Remote Console, and also providing a simple way to organise and transfer content on the StoryPhones.

Storyphones Bookshelf Software
The Bookshelf software will run on your school or personal computer. It allows the user to organise all the content on the Headsets and Remote Console very easily. It has a simple layout and is designed to be as quick and straightforward to use as possible, allowing the practitioner more time to spend with the children.

• Create playlists and link them to your planning
• Setup each player for individual or group activities
• Create and manage audio assessments

Storyphones Audio Content

Bookshelf, the Storyphones online shop provides a range of content from the Storyphones Education Team and many of the major educational publishers. This includes audio books, traditional tales, nursery rhymes, songs, music and “listen-and-do” activities. We are also currently developing and working with publishers on Modern Foreign Languages content to use with Storyphones.

Warranty on Storyphones

The Warranty is 12 Months Collect & Return, then an additional 12 Months Return To Base – which is only available upon registration via the Warranty Card (in the product box).
